Features with Vonage Companion for Mac
Most standard Vonage features work seamlessly with Vonage Companion. Some function differently with Vonage Companion than with other Vonage devices and a few are not supported. The features and how they are supported on Vonage Companion are described below.
Many standard Vonage features are set up via your Online Account. When you set up any of these features the settings apply to your Vonage number. Unless otherwise noted, the same settings apply whether you are using your home phone or your Vonage Companion.

Standard Vonage Features that Work Differently with Vonage Companion:
Call Waiting with Vonage Companion
Call Waiting is always on for Vonage Companion. Although your Vonage Online Account settings apply to your Vonage phone number and typically apply for your home phone and Vonage Companion, disabling Call Waiting applies only to your home phone.
If you are on a call with your Vonage Companion, incoming calls will ring your home phone and Call Waiting will be functional on your Vonage Companion.
Voicemail Plus® with Vonage Companion
In addition to the ways you typically access Voicemail Plus® simply click
in the Call Panel from Vonage Companion.
When prompted for your password, enter the digits using your computer's keyboard or the Vonage Companion dialpad. You will hear the digits being entered but will not see them displayed on Vonage Companion.
You can transfer any call in progress on your Vonage Companion using the following methods.

2. At the prompt in the call window, enter the number you are transferring the call to. Or drag and drop a contact from the My Contacts or My History view.

3. Click Transfer Now. The call will be transferred and you will no longer be a part of the conversation.

Quick Transfer List
Create a list of phone numbers to which you typically transfer calls, and then during a call you can quickly transfer to any of the numbers on this Quick Transfer list.
To set up your Quick Transfer list:
- Click Vonage Companion > Preferences > Quick Transfer from the Vonage Companion Menu.
- Enter as many numbers as you want. Click Add to enter a new number. To edit an entry, click the entry and then click Edit. To remove an entry, click the entry and click Remove.
With Vonage Companion Conference Calling, you can connect with multiple parties at the same time. All of you can talk at once. For example, if your sister calls when you are on a call with your mother, use Conference Calling to connect the three of you together into one conversation.
Setup a Conference Call
Setting up a Conference Call is simple using Vonage Companion's Call Panel. Either add participants to an established call using the Conference button or merge separate calls together using the Merge button.

- With an existing call ongoing, click
on the Call panel to enter conference mode. "Enter conference participant" displays in the Call entry field.
- Click on the Call entry field, enter the number of the second party, and then click on the Call button. When the second party answers, the conference call will be automatically connected.
Note: When you add someone to an ongoing call using the Conference button, the existing call will stay active so you can continue your conversation while waiting for the additional party to answer. Both parties on the ongoing call will hear the digits of the new call being dialed.

With multiple calls established, click Merge.
Note: With multiple, separate calls ongoing, the non-active call(s) remain on hold until you click Merge. In this example, "Jane Doe" remains on hold while the call is established with "John Doe."

Manage a Conference Call

Click and all calls in the Conference call will be put on hold. Click to reactivate the Conference call. |
| Split an ongoing Conference call into individual calls |
From the Vonage Companion menu:
Click Actions > Disband Conference to split the conference call into separate calls. |
| Remove a call from a Conference call |
From the Call Panel:
Click to the left of the phone number you'd like to remove and select Separate from conference. The call becomes a separate call. |
| Add another party to a Conference Call |
From the My Contacts view in the Contacts & History panel:
Crtl-click on a contact and choose Add to Conference Call. |
From the Call Panel:
Click . Place a call by typing a name or number. When the called party answers, the call will automatically be added to the conference. |
From the Call Panel:
Place a separate outgoing call in the normal way (by entering a name or number in the Call entry field, drag and drop a contact into the call entry field or Crtl-click on the contact in the contact list and select Call). When the call is established, click Merge. All existing separate calls will be brought into the existing conference. |
From the Call Panel:
Accept one or more incoming calls. Click Merge. All existing separate calls will be brought into the existing conference.
Note: Whenever you click Merge, all current established calls are conferenced together; you cannot keep any one call out of the conference.

Free within the U.S.
You won't be charged a fee to make Conference Calls if you are calling within the US (including Puerto Rico) and Canada. And if you have a Vonage unlimited plan, 3-Way calls within Italy, France, Spain, Ireland, and the UK are also free! If you are calling Internationally, your call will be billed incrementally based on that country rate, but there will be no extra fee for making the Conference Call. See our International Rates.
For billing purposes, we treat a Conference Call as two separate calls that happen at the same time.
Now Vonage proves that Conference Calling doesn't have to be complicated or cost extra money. It's just one of the many reasons to be a Vonage customer.
Caller ID Block with Vonage Companion
If you'd like to hide your identity on a call so that the other person will not see your ID on their phone, activate Caller ID Block on your Vonage Companion. Your identity is hidden only for this call.

Click Actions > Hide My Number for this Call then place a call to the number you want to call privately. Your call will be placed and your identity will be protected. |
Call Return with Vonage Companion
Vonage Companion provides additional ways to use Vonage Call Return. You never have to worry about missing a call.

Click to view your missed calls log, Ctrl-click on the missed call entry you'd like to return and select Call. The call will be placed immediately.
Note: will include a count of the calls you've missed. |

Click My History view then Ctrl-click any of the calls labeled as "Missed" in the Status column. Choose Call and the call will be placed immediately. |
Bandwidth Saver® with Vonage Companion
The Vonage Bandwidth Saver allows you to adjust bandwidth when you need to. Simply log on to your Vonage Companion and click Vonage Companion > Preferences > Bandwidth Saver.
Note:Although you can adjust bandwidth via your Online Account, the setting only applies to your home phone. Bandwidth settings affecting Vonage Companion must be set from Preferences.
Standard Vonage Features that Work the Same with Vonage Companion:
The following Vonage Features work the same for your Vonage Companion as they do for your home phone.
