Vonage Now Offers Beta Test for WhatsApp Business Calling API, Leveraging Vonage Voice API

Vonage is proud to be beta testing the WhatsApp Business Calling API. With this new capability, and leveraging the rich feature set of Vonage Voice API, businesses and consumers will benefit from a seamless, end-to-end customer engagement and eCommerce experience, from discovery to engagement, sales and customer support, all within WhatsApp.

Announced at the Meta Conversations event in Sāo Paulo, Brazil, the WhatsApp Business Calling API will be enabled as a new capability on the WhatsApp Business Platform. As a solution provider of the WhatsApp Business Platform, Vonage enables integration with WhatsApp through the Vonage Messages API for a richer customer messaging experience and will provide voice capabilities powered by Vonage Voice API. Solutions powered by the Vonage Voice API can leverage this new WhatsApp Business Calling API channel to offer best-in-class interactions that in turn will delight users, raising their overall satisfaction with the brand.

Brands will be able to easily respond to customer service escalations that require live, empathetic voice interactions, such as ordering, troubleshooting and customer care resolution, and handle complex sales and marketing calls, such as for real estate and automotive sectors.

With the WhatsApp Business Calling API, together with Vonage Voice API, customers will be able to seamlessly escalate from chat to voice without leaving the WhatsApp conversation, and ensure brands have the full context of the conversation. 87 percent of consumers worldwide prefer brands that connect their interactions across voice and messaging1, and with more than 1 billion users connecting with businesses across messaging services from Meta every week, the ability to make calls through WhatsApp will enable companies to deliver a differentiated and real-time customer experience that will boost customer engagement and build loyalty.

Vonage’s Global Customer Engagement Report 2024, which outlines data and insights into customer communications preferences with businesses, revealed that mobile phone calls and phone calls via apps are the preferred channel options for 65 percent of consumers.
