A brave and determined team of cyclists from NewVoiceMedia will be getting on their bikes next Saturday (20th September) to tackle ‘Nelson’s Tour de Test Valley’, and NewVoiceMedia is proud to be a sponsor.
The event will raise money and awareness for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), a charity which helps prevent male suicide in the UK by providing support to men who are down or in crisis. Male suicide accounts for 77% of all suicides in the UK and is now the single biggest cause of death in men aged 20 – 49 in England and Wales.
Nelson's Tour de Test Valley was set up in loving memory of pro snowboarder and keen cyclist Nelson Pratt, who died in June 2012. 100, 50 or 25 mile routes are on offer around the stunning Test Valley in Hampshire’s countryside, which take in Nelson’s favourite training rides where he spent many a happy hour on his beloved ‘Treader’.
The 100 mile route is a particularly tough test, featuring the area’s best climbs and fastest descents, but offers spectacular views and only the finest roads. This was Nelson’s first 100 mile route and remained his favourite ride.
Last year was incredibly successful, with an impressive 625 riders taking part, including our Head of Corporate Sales Mark Dunn, and a total of £55,000 was raised. This year stands to be even bigger and better!
