Expanding Our Alipay Payments Coverage to More Countries
Since Nexmo first launched the option to pay with Alipay back in 2015, we have seen this payment method emerge as a popular choice among our APAC customers. That’s why I am so pleased to announce that Nexmo has expanded our support for payments by Alipay account holders to five more countries:
- Australia
- Indonesia
- Malaysia
- New Zealand
- The Philippines
This is in addition to our existing support in Nexmo Dashboard for payments made by Alipay account holders in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, giving eight locations in total now supported by Nexmo.
International Growth of Alipay
This change at Nexmo reflects wider changes in the Asian market. Chinese companies are increasing their investments in other countries in the region, and this leads to attracting customers who have a preference for paying with Alipay.
As a result, Alipay has become available at merchants in more countries in Asia and Oceania. This was driven by the need to cater to Alipay account holders from China who had traveled overseas.
Furthermore, Nexmo’s innovative cloud communications APIs assist in Alipay’s growth. We are proud to have Alipay, owned by Ant Financial Services Group, as a Nexmo client.
