Connecting to Hotspots with the F1000 WiFi Phone

The UTStarcom F1000 WiFi phone will connect to Hotspots with the following characteristics:

  1. Open, where no encryption is required.
  2. WEP encryption, both 64 bit and 128 bit. The encryption key will need to be provided by the Hotspot provider.
  3. WPA-PSK, where the pre-shared key will need to be provided by the Hotspot provider.

We have seen successful connectivity with the following types of Hotspots; Airports, Metro Locations, Variety of Retailers, Café, Restaurants, Airline clubs, Hotels, Vision Centers, Universities, Schools, etc.

The following list of websites provides a variety of ways to search for Hotspots. Search options include, Free, All, Country, State, City, Zip Code, Mile Radius, Airports, Hotels, etc.

www.wififreespot.com
www.hotspothaven.com
www.wi-fihotspotlist.com

Please note that Hotspots that require a user name login, or credit card entry are not supported at this time. Also some free Hotspots require a web interface to acknowledge use, which the F1000 doesn't support.

Please refer to the F1000 Quick Start Guide or User CD for connectivity procedures.
