What is Call Holding?

When a call is placed on hold, the connection is not terminated, but no communication is possible until the call is taken off hold.

How does Call Hold work?

It’s easy to hold a call — simply find the hold button on your deskphone, and your caller will remain on the line. All VBC-supported phones come with the ability to place a call on hold.

Call Hold is a basic feature of VBC accounts, allowing you to keep your contacts entertained and/or informed while they wait to speak to an employee. Here are some of the benefits your company can enjoy:

  • Hold a call with one click — Call Hold is easy to use, and it can be easily set up and managed through your online portal.

  • Stay professional and flexible — You can answer multiple calls and wait to start a conversation when you’re ready with the information you need.

  • Add hold music and messaging — When placing a caller on hold, you can utilize Music on Hold or Call Queues to entertain and inform your caller until you are ready to resume the call.

How to use Call Hold

During a call, one simple click will put the call on hold. The caller will hear music and/or messaging about your company, while you can confer with colleagues, gather information to help the caller, or decide whether the call  needs to be transferred to someone else.
