Vonage WhatsApp API pricing FAQs
WhatsApp pricing has two components:
Meta/WhatsApp fee applies per delivered message, based on destination country and message category — Marketing, Utility, Authentication, or Service.
Vonage platform fee covers small infrastructure and routing costs — starting as low as 0.0001 Euros (0.00016 USD). This adjusts per volume and region. For example, a higher volume sent to a specific region lowers the incremental Vonage platform fee.
Marketing: Promotional messages sent outside a customer service window
Utility: Transactional messages, such as order confirmations and shipping updates
Authentication: One-time password (OTP) and verification messages
Service: Free-form messages sent within a 24-hour customer service window
Yes. Messages sent within a 24-hour customer service window — opened when a user messages your business — are free from Meta. This includes Utility template messages and free-form (Service) replies. Vonage platform fees still apply.
Yes. Meta offers incremental-tiered discounts for Utility and Authentication messages based on monthly volume per destination country. Discounts apply to messages beyond set thresholds and reset at the end of each month.
Effective July 1, 2025, Meta shifted from conversation-based pricing (CBP) to per message pricing (PMP). Existing customers with custom pricing retained their rates — only the billing unit changed from per conversation to per message.
